The MOU was signed by Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports, and HE Dr. Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, Secretary-General of the UAE Red Crescent Authority.
As outlined in the MOU, Abu Dhabi Ports will provide logistics support to Emirates Red Crescent by dedicating a 550 square meter warehouse in Zayed Port to the charitable organization, which will be called (The Warehouse of Giving), inspired by the “Year of Giving”.
Al Shamisi lauded the formidable efforts of Emirates Red Crescent Authority to enhance the lives of families in need and help displaced victims of catastrophes and disasters, pointing out that Abu Dhabi Ports’ initiative comes in appreciation of Emirates Red Crescent regional and international humanitarian initiatives, and in acknowledgement of the Authority’s role in alleviating human suffering and preserving the grace of people.
On his part, Dr. Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi stressed the importance of the MOU in opening wider channels for collaboration between Emirates Red Crescent Authority and Abu Dhabi Ports, saying, “The memorandum reflects the will of both sides to coordinate efforts and activate cooperation venues to offer humanitarian and charitable work. It enhances a strong partnership to advance humanitarian work in the UAE.” Adding, “The MOU is a step forward towards adopting initiatives promoting CSR and paving the way to a new level of strategic partnership which will have direct impact on the efforts of both sides in the field of humanitarian work.”
Expressing his appreciation for this gesture from Abu Dhabi Ports, Mr. Sultan Al Shehi, Emirates Red Crescent ‘Preservation of Grace’ Project Manager, said, “Abu Dhabi Ports has spearheaded the contribution efforts for the ‘Preservation of Grace’ project. It is the first company to donate and support our charitable efforts by offering a free-of-charge warehouse for the Emirates Red Crescent ‘Preserving of Grace’ project.” He added, “We greatly value this noble initiative. The warehouse will be dedicated to storing donated furniture after revamping and repackaging it. We expect to provide furniture for more than 1000 families in need this year all over the country.”
‘Preservation of Grace’ project was launched in 2004, under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) and Her Highness Sheikha Shamsa bint Hamdan Al Nahyan, Assistant to the ERC Chairman for Women’s Affairs. As a humanitarian initiative aimed at spreading awareness about social solidarity and the virtues of grace and giving, forming a bridge connecting donors with low income and needy families, who are the focus of the project. It offers the beneficiaries various services to help improve their standard of living through its programs: food, clothing, medicine, furniture, breaking the fast, and Suqya Ma’a (water aid program).
