WISTA delegates visit Khalifa Port

ADPC has received female delegates from the Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association(WISTA-UAE) at Khalifa Port.

WISTA is an international organization for women in management positions involved in maritime transportation business and related trade worldwide.

With a focus on networking, education and mentoring they can enhance members’ competence and empower career success. The organisation is growing and currently counts over 1500 individual members in 34 National WISTA Associations (NWAs).

WISTA UAE was established in 2010 and as the first in the Middle East now has more than 20 active members.The UAE chapter’s mission is to raise awareness of the Middle East shipping industry amongst professional women inside the country and abroad, to encourage more to join the maritime and trading sector and to build a network platform for women within mainly male dominated industries. WISTA UAE meets on a bi-monthly basis and organises seminars and training programs to educate young women and highlight the many opportunities that exist.

WISTA met ADPC management and was then taken on a personal tour of the new Khalifa Port which will open on September 1st. Commenting on the occasion, Jameela Al Junaibi, Marketing Manager at Ports’ Unit, ADPC, said:

“ADPC is becoming one of the huge players on an international level. Today it is not only committed to increasing awareness of females in this business, but is also keen to learn from them and exchange views. We look forward to witnessing a bright future for all of our ports and infrastructural projects.Furthermore, ADPC is keen to welcome visits from other Governmental organisations, potential stakeholders, schools and universities, shipping industries and related entities.”
