Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) welcomed four students from the University of Wollongong on Tuesday, 8th July, to its facilities at Khalifa Port, supporting the students’ case study of the operations and supply chain management at Abu Dhabi’s ports.
“What services does ADPC Marine Services offer to ships calling at Abu Dhabi ports?”, “Which shipping lines is ADPC servicing”, and “In what ways is Khalifa Port embedded in the supply chain infrastructure of the nearby Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi?” were some of the many questions the students asked the ADPC team as part of their data collection and research.
As an Advisory Board Member for the University of Wollongong, Dubai, Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO, ADPC, supported the students’ visit and interest in the port facilities.
During their visit, the students were given the opportunity to see Khalifa Port’s state-of-the-art facilities, including the nine ship-to-shore quay cranes, some of the largest cranes in the world, and the Terminal Operation Building, where they were given insights into the maritime industry and an overview of the port’s busy container yard.
