Stable rate structure paves way for enhanced trade volumes at Khalifa Port

ADPC SIGNS MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH MICCO

Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MICCO, a leading freight contracting company in the UAE and a logistics service provider for more than 30 years.

By signing the MoU, MICCO agreed to provide road freight services for container cargo for pick-up from and delivery to Khalifa Port to and from any location in the city of Abu Dhabi, including Musaffah.

The MoU, which will be valid for one year, will guarantee stability in the rate structure while encouraging more trade to further enhance the import and export volumes at Khalifa Port.

ADPC will be supporting MICCO’s comprehensive road freight services by providing a dedicated coordination desk and parking area for the various MICCO trucks, as well as fast track processing at the port.

Commenting on the signing of the MoU, Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO, ADPC, said:

“The MoU marks a further step in the development process of our vastly growing logistics network around Khalifa Port. MICCO has over 30 years of industry experience and is a perfect partner to cater to our steadily increasing road freight transportation needs around the port, including its adjacent Khalifa Industrial Zone, and wider Abu Dhabi region.”

Captain Simreen, Managing Director, MICCO, added:

“The signing of the MoU signals our firm commitment to ADPC and to the emirate of Abu Dhabi to promote trade through Abu Dhabi ports. MICCO has been a very active freight contracting company in the UAE and Abu Dhabi in particular, and we are confident that this agreement will go a long way in generating larger trade volumes that will benefit our economies and increase industrial growth.”

Established in 1978 as a freight forwarder, MICCO has continuously expanded its service range to meet increased business opportunities and the challenges of economic diversification – a central goal of ADPC following the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030.

MICCO has several offices in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Qatar, and plays a pivotal role as supply chain solution provider in transportation logistics for trade in the UAE, especially for oil, gas, energy and consumer industries.

With its broad service portfolio and cutting edge GPS communications and IT infrastructure to control trucking movements, MICCO will add significant value to ADPC’s growing one-of-a-kind logistics network at Khalifa Port and the adjacent Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi – both destined to become one of the biggest industrial zones in the region.
