Shaaffaf Glass to produce crystal products in Kizad

INVESTMENT WORTH AED 37 MILLION IN NEW FACILITY

Following a chain of successful new business announcements this year, Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi, Kizad, has welcomed Shaaffaf. Glass, a leading local company specialised in manufacturing crystal products, to its mixed use cluster.

Faisal Seddiq Al Mutawa, Chairman at Shaaffaf Glass, and Engineer Khaled Salmeen, CEO and Managing Director of Kizad, recently signed the Musataha Agreement that will last for a period of 30 years.

Shaaffaf Glass has been allocated a 117,392 sq.ft plot of land to set up its factory and is expected to commence manufacturing its high quality crystal products by Q3 2014. The high end crystal products will be used for architectural purposes, including decorative glass and stone fixtures. The company plans to incorporate three individual manufacturing plants within its facility: Crystal Arc, Decorative Glass and Casted Crystal under the brand name of Nakawa (www.nakawa.ae) and Greenfield Shaaffaf. The latter will be the first to set up in Kizad and the first of its kind in the MENA region.

With the new manufacturing facility in Kizad, Shaaffaf Glass is planning to expand its production range to offer all relevant glass making techniques from melting, blowing, casting and pressing, all the way to various decorating techniques like cutting, engraving and painting. With a production capacity of 1.5 tons per day, Shaaffaf Glass will be introducing these techniques to the Arab world for the first time ever.

Commenting on the recent signing of the Musataha agreement, Eng. Khaled Salmeen said:

“We are delighted to welcome yet another valued tenant to Kizad. We are keen to attract top line, innovative and high quality manufacturers that make the most of our unique value proposition and facilities. We support local businesses and play a role in promoting their services and products, thereby reiterating our commitment towards the diversification of Abu Dhabi’s economy. “Our decision to move to Kizad stems from our aspiration to continuously improve and deliver best quality products. Kizad’s impressive facilities and advantages, from facilitated business practices, low operating costs, and connections to various international markets, all fall into our criteria for choosing the perfect environment in which to conduct business. Shaaffaf Glass is a well established local company and has been leading the industry for the past ten years in the UAE and we look forward to continued success with the support of Kizad.”
