Saudi Ports Corporation visits Maritime Training Centre

Senior officials from Abu Dhabi Ports welcomed a delegation of Saudi Ports Corporation on Tuesday, 20 January, at its Maritime Training Centre at Musaffah Port.

During their visit, the delegates were given a tour through the training centre’s state-of-the-art facilities and had the chance to experience the ship manoeuvring and Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) simulators.

The simulators, which are being used to train Abu Dhabi Ports’ employees as well as external candidates from the GCC region, have been programmed with local ports, such as Musaffah and Khalifa Port, as well as non-specific ports to allow training in unfamiliar settings.

A variety of vessels are also programmed into each simulator ranging from high speed pilot and crew boats, to the world’s largest container vessels.

After the tour, which was given by Ibrahim bin Hraiz, Port Training Centre Manager, Abu Dhabi Ports, Capt. Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO, Abu Dhabi Ports, invited the delegates for lunch which gave both parties the opportunity to catch up on latest developments in the maritime industry.
