New DoT joiners and fire crew visit ADPC’s facilities

Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) recently welcomed the new joiners of the Abu Dhabi Department of Transport (DoT) together with new staff members of ADPC’s fire crew to an orientation tour through its state-of-the-art facilities.

The tour, which took place from 20 – 21 January, was organized by ADPC’s Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) department.

During the two days the participants had the opportunity to learn more about the local maritime industry while being given insights into various ADPC departments, including HSE, ADPC Marine Services, Vessel Traffic Services (VTS), and Aids-to-Navigation (AtoN).

The participants were also invited to visit Khalifa Port’s container terminal, the first semi-automated container terminal in the GCC region. Here, the visitors learned about ADPC’s cutting edge equipment, including the 126.5 meters high and 1,932 tons heavy ship-to-shore cranes, as well as the work of Abu Dhabi Terminals (ADT), the container terminal operator.

Furthermore, the new joiners visited the visitor center of the Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad) in Taweelah. The center gives an overview of the massive industrial zone which, together with Khalifa Port, covers an area of 418 square kilometers and represents the biggest infrastructure project ever undertaken in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
