Mina Zayed Welcomes a High Level Delegation from the China Shipping Company

ABU DHABI PORTS COMPANY (ADPC) AND ABU DHABI TERMINALS (ADT) WELCOMED A DELEGATION FROM CHINA SHIPPING (GROUP) COMPANY AT THEIR MINA ZAYED HEADQUARTERS DURING THE DELEGATION’S VISIT TO THE UAE WHERE THEY WERE GREETED BY MR. AHMED AL CALILY, CEO AND MD OF ADPC AND MR. MOHAMMED AL MANNAEI, CEO OF ADT. ADT PRESENTED TO THE DELEGATION THE LATEST DEVELOPMENTS IN THE PORT AND THE VARIOUS SERVICES OFFERED TO SHIPPING COMPANIES OPERATING IN PORT ZAYED.

After the port tour, Mr. Li Shao De, president of the China Shipping Group, praised the level of efficiency in Mina Zayed as well as the double digit growth since the creation of ADT more than a year ago as a joint venture between ADPC and Mubadala and as a result of the management services agreement signed with DP World, a world class marine terminal operator. Mr. Li Shao De shared the latest developments and expansion plans of his company and confirmed their intent to further develop their cooperation with ADT.

Abu Dhabi Ports Company and Abu Dhabi Terminals’ senior officials emphasized their commitment to offer the highest level of quality services to global shipping lines in Mina Zayed and ensured that the same standards will be maintained and reinforced at Khalifa port in Taweelah.

Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) provided the group with a general overview on its Khalifa Port and Industrial Zone (KPIZ), a multi-billion dollar project strategically located between the cities of Abu Dhabi and Dubai. KPIZ will include the new world-scale container and industrial port, in addition to over 100 square kilometers of industrial, logistics, commercial, educational, and residential special economic and free zones. Khalifa Port will be able to accommodate up to 2 million TEU’s (twenty-foot equivalent container units) in its first stage which is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2010.

The government-owned China Shipping Company is one of the most prominent shipping conglomerates in the world that operates in different regions across the globe. It has over 260 representative offices around the world and five specialized shipping fleets of oil tankers, tramps, passenger ships, container vessels and special cargo ships comprised of over 440 vessels with an aggregated dead weight of 15 million tones and an annual traffic volume of over 270 million tonnes.
