Kizad announces 4-star excellence rating at ADQF

EFQM RECOGNIZES KIZAD FOR OPEN BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT AND CUSTOMER SERVICE

Kizad officials announced yesterday at the Abu Dhabi Quality Forum that the Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad) has been awarded the 4-star excellence rating by the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM). The announcement was made on the sidelines of the annual quality forum, which took place at the St. Regis Saadiyat Island.

Held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor, and Vice Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Kizad is a leading sponsor and supporter of the event, alongside the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) and Al Hilal Bank.

“Quality Through Innovation and Leadership” was the title of the plenary session in which Engineer Khaled Salmeen, CEO, Kizad, participated, alongside other high profile panelists, including Mohamed Al Hammadi, CEO, ENEC, Engineer Saeed Ghumran Al Romaithi, CEO, Emirates Steel, and Badr Jafar, CEO, Crescent Enterprises.

“The Abu Dhabi Quality Forum is a great platform to promote a unified ground for quality management and sustainable business excellence. The EFQM’s recent award of the 4-star excellence rating to Kizad confirms our continuous quest to further improve our business in line with international best practices. We are very proud to have been recognized by such a prestigious foundation like the EFQM, whose sustainability model has been the backbone for government excellence awards around the world”, said Salmeen.

Kizad is one of only four enterprises in the UAE and one of 84 worldwide to have successfully attained a 4-star excellence rating from the EFQM. Other companies who have won the same accolade include Siemens Health Diagnostics Manufacturing and the Network Rail UK.

The foundation is the European equivalent to the Malcom Baldrige National Quality Award in the USA and the Deming Prize in Japan.

Following ten months of preparations by Kizad’s Business Process & Quality Assurance team the EFQM assessment was carried out at the ADPC headquarters next to Zayed Port and at the Kizad visitor centre in Taweelah. Specialized business assessors from the UK, Belgium and the UAE were part of the team that examined Kizad through extensive research, meetings, and in depth interviews with senior members of staff.

The assessors were particularly impressed by Kizad’s open business environment which constantly encourages employees to look for new and innovative ways to improve the business. The assessors also praised the industrial zone’s dedicated and comprehensive one-stop-shop customer service, as well as the fact that, since its launch three years ago, Kizad has achieved over 5 million man hours with no lost time incidents (LTI).

“We insist on the integration of business and operational excellence in our daily tasks within all departments and at all hierarchical levels within Kizad. We believe that continuous monitoring, assessing and evaluating, is a must for any organization seeking sustainable growth and phenomenal customer and investor service levels”, Salmeen concluded.
