Firefighters fully trained at Khalifa Port

ADPC’s team of 22 firefighters at Khalifa Port is now “fully trained and ready to deal with any emergency”.

That is the word from the Ports’ Unit’s QHSSE and Crisis Management Team’s senior manager, Khalid Al Ali: “The team has surpassed itself, with 16 of our members completing a tough and intensive four weeks’ multi-scenario training course held by ADPC and the Civil Defence Academy. In addition, most of our team have a long background in working with emergency services, so we are now in a strong position at Khalifa Port to deal with any eventuality.”

Next month, the Fire Services Department at the Port will also take delivery of three state of the art fire-engines and HazMat vehicles from Bristol in the UK.

A full scale emergency will also be simulated at Khalifa Port in July, with two crisis scenarios unraveling, with the team, its support network and the new equipment being put through its paces.

The fire-fighting team is multi-national, with Emiratis, Omanis, as well as team members from countries such as Turkey, Jordan, Sri Lanka, India and Zimbabwe.
