Ajman delegation visits Khalifa Port

ADPC WELCOMES PRESIDENT OF AJMAN PORTS AND CUSTOMS AUTHORITY

Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) officially welcomed H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdallah bin Sultan Al Nuaimi, President, Ajman Ports and Customs Authority, on 18 November.

H.E. Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied by Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Customs Inspection Manager, Ajman Ports, Nasser Obaid Al Suwaidi Customs Tariff Manager, and Khalifa Abdallah Bu Shehab, Customs policies Manager from Ajman who came to see Khalifa Port, including the port’s semi-automated container terminal – the first of its kind in the GCC region.

“We are delighted to welcome H.E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdallah bin Sultan Al Nuaimi and his delegation at ADPC; the visit has given us the opportunity to showcase our state-of-the-art facilities and operations at Khalifa Port, and we would be honored to welcome His Excellency again in the near future”, said Capt. Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO, ADPC.

The delegates visited Khalifa Port’s Terminal Operations Building (TOB), from where they could see the port’s cutting edge container yard operations, including its nine Super Post Panamax ship-to-shore (STS) quay cranes, some of the largest and most modern cranes in the world.

According to a report published by the Journal of Commerce (JOC), the Khalifa Port container operations now rank number five in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region for port productivity.

The delegation was also given a tour of the Kizad Visitor Centre where Alexander Haex, Vice President, Business Development, ADPC-Kizad, explained the master plan behind Khalifa Port and Kizad, and how both support the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030.

The visit ended with Al Shamisi presenting an exclusively designed ship model and ADPC’s book “Al Fourda (quayside) – Past, Present and Future” to mark the special occasion.
