The certificate was presented for ports operations by LRQA Area Manager for Middle East and Africa, Basam Obaid to a senior ADPC team, led by CEO Tony Douglas, at ADPC headquarters.

These two standards for which this certificate is awarded are among the world’s most highly sought after certifications in the field of Occupational Health and Safety as well as the Environment. It illustrates the adoption by ADPC Ports Unit of the highest global standards in management, follow-up and improvement of the standards and systems of Health, Safety and Environment.

Tony Douglas, ADPC CEO, commented: “ADPC’s commitment to implement the requirements of these two international standards will lessen any health and safety risks to employees, customers and ports users, besides helping achieve better management of the environmental risks at ports, at the present time or future, and boosting the morale of employees.”

For his part LRQA’s Basam Obaid congratulated ADPC on having achieved ISO certification for two of the most rigorous and demanding management system standards.

“ADPC’s Ports Unit has shown the highest commitment to best practice in terms of ports health and safety and environmental impact by seeking certification from the LRQA for these two standards”.

“The Unit will implement the Integrated Health, Safety and Environment Management System (IHSE-MS) as part of their risk management strategy to address changing legislation and protect their workforce. The implementation of the Integrated Health, Safety and Environment Management System (IHSE-MS) promotes a safe and healthy working environment by providing a framework that allows the ADPC Ports Unit to consistently identify and control its health, safety and environmental risks; to reduce the potential for accidents; to aid legislative compliance and to improve overall performance of ADPC Ports.”
