THE INAUGURAL AL GHARBIA DEVELOPMENT FORUM HAS BEEN SET UP IN CONJUNCTION WITH “ABU DHABI VISION 2030”
Under the esteemed patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region, the first meeting of the “Al Gharbia Development Forum” has taken place. The focus of the event is to showcase, attract investment and identify business opportunities in the one of the UAE’s fastest growing tourism destinations.
Waleed Al Tamimi, Vice President, Project Development, Projects, at Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC), was a key note speaker and addressed the gathered delegates on the issues relating to the development of ADPC’s six commercial and community ports in Al Gharbia [Western Region] and the opportunities as they relate to the tourism, commercial and logistics industries.
“With the [Abu Dhabi] General Secretariat of the Executive Council’s recent allocation of AED330 billion (USD89.8 billion) to be spent on ports and Al Gharbia’s development over the next five years, we are certain that the public spending commitment will be matched and eventually surpassed by interest from the private sector. This will benefit both the local communities and the growing tourism trade into the emirate,” said Al Tamimi.
The inaugural Al Gharbia Development Forum has been set up to help define and guide the agenda for business and investors in the Western Region of Abu Dhabi emirate, in conjunction with the economic plan leading up to the “Abu Dhabi Vision 2030”.
With 120 senior delegates in attendance from regional and global businesses, the forum was managed by MEED and under the direction and support of the Western Regional Development Council (WRDC).
