ADPC and Kizad take part in SIAL Food Exhibition

ADPC RECENTLY ATTENDED SIAL, THE MIDDLE EASTERN FOOD EXHIBITION, WHICH TOOK PLACE FROM 24-26 NOVEMBER AT THE ABU DHABI NATIONAL EXHIBITION CENTRE (ADNEC).

Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC), the master developer of ports and industrial zones, recently attended SIAL, the Middle Eastern Food Exhibition, which took place under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, from 24-26 November at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). The participation came as a result of an invitation from the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) to participate at the 3rd Edition of SIAL Middle East 2013.

ADPC Acting CEO, Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi said that “we are honored to be invited to participate at SIAL 2013 alongside our partners in the Abu Dhabi Government. Food safety and security is pivotal to the development of the economy and we as ADPC are providing the industry with the highest levels of multi-modal logistical support for the import and export of foodstuffs”.

With many import and export activities of food, food products and by products through its ports and dedicated food cluster in Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad), ADPC plays a key role in the development and operation of the emirate’s food production and transportation cycles.

With the recent announcement of Brasil Foods being based at Kizad, this has given Abu Dhabi’s food cluster a massive boost as one of the largest manufacturers of processed food in the world looks to begin operations by mid-2014. The facility in the Taweelah area of Abu Dhabi is billed to be the largest food processing facility under the Brasil Foods umbrella outside Brasil, encouraging further growth in Kizad’s food cluster.

Among more than 20 other government organizations, ADPC participated in the international exhibition with a modern multimedia stand, taking the opportunity to meet with people from the industry while finding out about current developments and discussing future business opportunities.

Being the region’s fastest growing B2B event for the food, drink, hospitality and food manufacturers/producers/processors industries, SIAL offers an excellent networking platform for industry professionals from all over the globe. This year’s exhibition counted more than 12,500 attendees and around 500 hosted buyers from 18 countries. In terms of exhibitors, 552 Exhibitors from 51 countries were expected to take part.

We caught up with Engineer Khaled Salmeen, CEO & MD of Kizad, at the opening of the SIAL Exhibition who said that “ADPC and Kizad are very happy to be part of this important exhibition where all the major food companies are present. ADPC plays an important role in the importation of foods into the Emirate of Abu Dhabi through its ports, including Khalifa Port, Zayed Port and all the other ports in the Western Region and in Abu Dhabi. Soon, we also hope that we will have a balance of locally produced foods, from companies like Brasil Foods operating out of Kizad, seeing the export of food stuff also taking place.
