Abu Dhabi Ports’ flagship Khalifa Port wins “Port of the Year Award” of Maritime Standard Awards 2015

AWARD RECOGNISES KHALIFA PORT’S OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS AT MARITIME STANDARD AWARDS NIGHT HELD IN DUBAI

Khalifa Port, the flagship of Abu Dhabi Ports―the master developer, operator and manager of ports and industrial zones in the Emirate―has won “Port of the Year” Award of the Maritime Standard Awards.

Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports, received the award at the Maritime Standard Awards night held in Dubai on Monday, in the presence of dignitaries from across the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent.

“This esteemed award makes me proud. I dedicate this honour to the wise leadership of Abu Dhabi, whose guidance and support always help us a great deal in our journey towards excellence,” said Captain Al Shamisi.

“My sincere gratitude goes to our employees, partners, customers and all other stakeholders for their cooperation, support and contribution to our continuous endeavours to maintain world-class standards at our industrial zones and ports, especially at Khalifa Port―one of the fastest growing ports in the world” he said.

This is the second consecutive year Abu Dhabi Port has won the Port of the Year Award.This year’s Award honoured Khalifa Port, a world-class state-of-the-art port and first semi-automated port in the region for its outstanding achievements during this year.

The Top 120 World Container Ports ranking listed KPCT as the third fastest growing container port in the world and the fastest growing port in the Middle East based on its 26 per cent volume growth in 2014.

Khalifa Ports is also integrated with Khalifa Industrial Zone (Kizad), providing excellent supply chain connections and efficiencies.

Over the last year, Abu Dhabi Ports has invested significantly in technology, world-class infrastructure and innovative services to enhance its customer experience.

The second Annual Maritime Standard Awards was held at Atlantis The Palm in Dubai under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Airports; President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority; Chairman and CEO of Emirates Group. Ruud Gullit, the Dutch football legend and superstar, was the Master of Ceremonies at the event.
