Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) recently held its first Innovation (IBTIKAR) Day to honour employees demonstrating exemplary commitment towards the organization.

Instituted earlier this year, the program motivates ADPC employees to offer innovative ideas that help save significant funds, generate additional revenue, increase productivity and enhance customer service.

Among the ADPC staff recognized for their contribution was Damien Wiehl, Production Officer, Corporate Communications, ADPC. Damien produced high-quality corporate films and web-videos and reduced the need to hire a professional camera crew to record ADPC’s ongoing operations.

Tony Douglas, CEO, ADPC, who presented the winners with specially commissioned trophies said: “The staff here makes me proud of their proactive thinking, creativity and resourcefulness. I thank them for putting the company first and making such an effort. They are all visionaries.”

Tawfeeq Yousuf Al Mubarak, Executive Vice President, Strategy and Corporate Support, ADPC, also gave a speech commending the efforts of the winners and all creative employees of ADPC.

The chief guest at the event, Dr Mansoor Al Awar, Chancellor, Hamdan Bin Mohamed e-University, delivered a presentation on innovation management. Dr Al Awar is a prominent expert in education, e-learning and corporate performance measurement in the UAE.

Dr Al Awar said: “I am impressed by the spirit of ‘internal entrepreneurship’ demonstrated by the ADPC staff. The teams have indeed shown that what may appear as a small idea can, in fact, produce substantial benefits for the company.”
