Abu Dhabi Ports and ADT attract Emirati job seekers

Abu Dhabi Ports and Abu Dhabi Terminals (ADT) welcomed more top quality job applicants to their stand than ever before, at the recent ninth edition of Tawdheef, Abu Dhabi’s job fair for UAE nationals.

Both companies conducted hundreds of face-to-face interviews and collected numerous CVs from Emirati job seekers, making the three-day event a great success.

H.E. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, who acted as the official patron of the career fair, visited Abu Dhabi Ports and ADT at their stand where Capt. Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO, Abu Dhabi Ports, welcomed the minister and his delegation.

Tawdheef brought together more than 100 exhibitors from various industry sectors, where the exhibitors collectively hold around 7,500 current job vacancies for fresh Emirati graduates and professionals.

“The response we have had at Tawdheef has been overwhelming and extremely encouraging. Abu Dhabi Ports’ is keen to attract young Emirati talent to the local maritime industry, the sector is growing rapidly and offers many exciting job opportunities in an industry which is vitally important to the Emirate and its global aspirations”, said Maitha Al Murar, Acting Vice President – Emiratisation, Human Resources and Administration, Abu Dhabi Ports.

“As the manager and operator of Khalifa Port container terminal, we are dedicated to the development of UAE nationals across the full employment spectrum. The success of Tawdheef confirms our profile as an employer of choice who will continue to create new job openings to cater for the growing maritime industry”, added Eisa Hassan Al Marzouqi, Senior Director Human Resources, ADT.

At present, Abu Dhabi Ports and ADT are looking to fill 61 job openings in the fields of clerical work and port operations. All of these openings are linked to intensive training programmes conducted by internationally certified experienced maritime professionals.

The training includes on-the-job practical operations as well as comprehensive classroom exercises in state-of-the-art training facilities. In addition, all of the candidates are supported by a dedicated mentor who offers guidance in all career related matters.

The next career fair which Abu Dhabi Ports representatives will be attending is the UAE-UK Pioneers Forum at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge in London. An initiative led by the UAE Embassy in London, the forum takes place on 7 February and targets Emirati students studying in the UK and EU, encouraging them to return home with their international skill set, to take up the many exciting opportunities in the UAE’s own industries.
