Abu Dhabi and the German Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development sign LOI in Hannover, Germany

In support of Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad), the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development and the German Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development signed a Letter of Intent today at the Hannover Messe Fair expressing their intention to co-operate on the development, promotion and operation of Kizad and the adjacent Khalifa Port.

The signing took place at the Hannover Messe Fair between H.E. Rainer Bomba, State Secretary in the Ministry of Transport, Construction and City Development and H.E. Mohammed Omar Abdullah, Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (DED) Undersecretary. Also present were H.E. Mohammed Ahmed Al Mahmood, UAE Ambassador to Germany, Tony Douglas, CEO of the Abu Dhabi Ports Company and Khaled Salmeen Al Kawari, Executive Vice President of Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad).

The MoU expresses the intention to invite and to encourage trade and industry organizations and commercial and governmental entities from the Federal Republic of Germany and the UAE to participate in dialogue. This also encompasses potential commercial opportunities for companies and individuals from the Federal Republic of Germany regarding the development, maintenance and operation of Kizad and Khalifa port.

Commenting on this occasion, H.E. Mohammed Ahmed Al Mahmood, UAE Ambassador to Germany said: “We are very pleased to see the increase in business relations between the UAE and Germany. Today’s agreement is a continuation of Abu Dhabi’s Economic Vision 2030 which looks to increase relations and investment opportunities in the Emirate.”

For his part, H.E. Mohammed Omar Abdullah, Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (DED) Undersecretary said: “This is the fourth consecutive year Abu Dhabi has participated in Hannover Messe, and it is the formation of partnerships like this that highlight the development in the relationship between the UAE and Germany.”

Commenting on this occasion, Khaled Salmeen Al Kawari, Executive Vice President of Kizad said: “We are very keen on growing the trade relations with Germany and the UAE. This is why we are present at the Hannover Messe Fair and are honoured by the presence of H.E. Mohammed Ahmed Al Mahmood, UAE Ambassador to Germany, and H.E. Rainer Bomba, State Secretary in the Ministry of Transport, Construction and City Development.”
