Abu Dhabi Ports backs ‘Show Compassion’ campaign
STAFF RESPOND TO URGENT CALL FOR FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS, WINTER CLOTHING AND FOOD
Under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ports is urging all members of staff to respond to the campaign “Show Compassion“, launched by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The urgent campaign is to provide warmth for the millions of refugees affected by the bitter winter storm across the Levant, which will increase in strength over the coming days.
Abu Dhabi employees have quickly responded to the campaign, donating both money to the Red Crescent to support their work on this urgent campaign and by donating clothing and food.
Collection boxes have been set up in the Abu Dhabi Ports offices to collect warm winter clothing such as jackets, coats, sweaters, socks, scarfs, ear muffs, and blankets and food items such as rice sacks, canned meats and vegetables and cereals. The items will be delivered to the Red Crescent for urgent distribution to those in humanitarian need.
The Ministry of International Cooperation and Development (MICAD) estimates that there are now more than 11 million displaced Syrians in neighbouring countries across the Levant. These refugees are now facing indescribable humanitarian conditions as a result of the dire weather conditions.
