The CEO of ADPC, Tony Douglas, has shown a delegation from Finnish cranemakers, Konecranes – including Pekka Lundmark, CEO and President – around Khalifa Port and Kizad.
Mr Lundmark confirmed that his company is working to schedule on manufacturing components for the stacking cranes to be used at Khalifa Port. ADPC placed an order with the company in December for AED 430 million (over USD 115 million). The contract covers thirty automated cranes which will be used for stacking containers for the semi-automated container terminal at Khalifa Port. Mr Lundmark confirmed that in summer this year the first delivery of components for the first six cranes is on schedule to take place.
The first phases of both Khalifa Port and Kizad will see their infrastructure completed in Q4, 2012.
