Jonathon Porritt, the renowned green campaigner and Founder Director of Forum for the Future, has praised ADPC’s megaproject on a fact-finding site visit, calling both projects “markers for the future”.
Mr Porritt, the former UK government advisor on green issues, was escorted around the Kizad (Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi) Visitor Centre in the ADPC main building at Taweelah, and Khalifa Port, after attending the World Future Energy Summit in the capital.
He joined ADPC CEO, Tony Douglas, who personally drove him around the megaproject on a one-to-one guided tour.
Mr Porritt said: “Khalifa Port and Kizad are showing the way ahead to the future. Both are incorporating energy efficiencies, and playing a welcome part in embracing green technologies and know how.”
The campaigner will expand on his energy-saving ideas for the UAE when he speaks at the World Ports and Trade Summit in Abu Dhabi in April, concentrating on plans for the shipping industry to self-regulatate in accordance with the Forum’s Sustainable Shipping Initiative.
