ADPC’s Mohamed Jamal-Eddine, Systems Engineer, with ADPC Vice President of IT, Dr Saif Al Ketbi
Our IT team has lifted a leading prize at the Arabian Computer News Arab Technology Awards. The team won the Energy, Telecoms and Industry Implementation award for its continuing virtualization work. IT are helping ADPC go green, currently focusing on linking up HQ and the Taweelah site. The team is striving towards providing a green data centre, with power consumption dropping by 40% and with the length of cables used being cut dramatically. The switchover to a virtual network means that considerable financial and energy savings are being made. The number of physical servers, for instance, has dropped from sixty to only five.
ADPC’s Vice-President of IT, Dr Saif Al Ketbi commented on the award: “This is an honour for ADPC as it shows that on two successive occasions our work is being not only recognised at the Awards but also rewarded. It is very satisfying and adds to our determination to see through this challenging phase of our work.”
ADPC beat an international field, including du, Kuwait National Oil Company, NTCC Saudi Arabia and Saudi Telecom Company.
