Master students from the UAE University in Al Ain recently travelled to Abu Dhabi to visit Khalifa Port and Kizad to widen their knowledge about the maritime and logistics sector in the emirate.
The 18 students were welcomed by officials from Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) who gave the visitors a tour through the Kizad Visitor Centre in Taweelah. Here, the students learned about Kizad’s different industry clusters and their current development status.
Afterwards, the students were given a tour of Khalifa Port where they visited the Terminal Operation Building and Documentation Centre. The students had the chance to see container ships arriving on the quay site and learned how containers are being unloaded and stacked in the nearby container yard.
The visit ended with a presentation by Waleed Al Tamimi, VP – Asset Management, ADPC, who welcomed the students at the Kizad boardroom. In his presentation, he gave further insights into Khalifa Port’s infrastructure, including its cutting edge technology and equipment.
