ADPC, welcomed the MV Costa Fortuna on Wednesday, 18 December, at Zayed Port. It was the first time the gigantic Italian cruise liner has visited Abu Dhabi. Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Acting CEO, ADPC, handed over a commemorative plaque to Captain Massimo Garabarnio to officially mark the ship’s maiden call to the city.
The MV Costa Fortuna, which sails for Costa Cruises, offers a capacity for 2720 passengers and 1027 crew members. With a cruising speed of 20 knots (37 km/h), a weight of 102,587 tons and a length of 273 meters, the ship has been designed as a tribute to the legendary glamorous ocean liners that once sailed between Italy and the Americas. The MV Costa Fortuna will be calling at Zayed Port on a weekly basis until March 2014, resulting in a total of 15 calls. Other stops on her eight-day-cruise-tour through the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman will be Dubai, Khasab, Muscat and Fujairah Khor Fakkan.
