ADPC Welcomes DoT Scholarship Students

Engineering, Marine & Environment students from the Higher Colleges of Technology enjoy a personal tour of facilities at Khalifa Port, led by ADPC.

Initiative supports growth of knowledge based economy in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC), in collaboration with Department of Transport (DoT) and Abu Dhabi Terminals (ADT) recently welcomed 23 Emirati students who are sponsored by (DoT) and studying at the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) on a series of educational visits to its headquarters at Mina Zayed, Abu Dhabi, and Khalifa Port at Taweelah.

The students, the majority of whom are first year and will specialize in maritime and land transport, were given presentations that explained the structure of ADPC and its ports, and the importance of its roles and responsibilities towards health and the environment. This was followed by a tour to Mina Zayed and Khalifa Port, at Taweelah, where students showed real interest in ADPC’s mega projects, Khalifa Port and the Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad).

Commenting on the students’ visit, Mr. Tawfeeq Y. AlMubarak, Executive Vice President – Ports Unit, said: “ADPC is committed in its efforts to support the growth of a knowledge-based economy in Abu Dhabi. For the students, this is a real opportunity to see actual engineering and marine projects in action, and to learn about the role of environmental responsibility, and we are pleased to witness such enthusiasm from Emirati students to learn more about how ports are operated in the Abu Dhabi.”

The student tours are scheduled to continue over the coming months as part of ADPC’s support of the growth of a knowledge-based economy in Abu Dhabi, in line with Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030.
