The Abu Dhabi Government (Men’s) Ramadan Football Championship was organised by the Office of Government Communications of the General Secretariat of the Executive Council, under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the National Security Advisor and Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council.
ADPC’s football team successfully secured a spot in the knockout phase after an 11-0 win against the Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC) and a well-earned draw against the Abu Dhabi Farmers’ Services Centre.
In the last 16, ADPC’s run was brought to an end after they bowed out, 3-0, to the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC).
A total of 31 teams took part in the Championship, with each team guaranteed at least two group games in the round-robin phase. The top highest ranked sides from each group then advanced to a knockout phase of 16 teams in a single-elimination tournament which was eventually won by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).
“The Football Championship has been a great experience and gave us the chance to meet other players from the several government entities. We are all proud to have represented ADPC, and it was great to have the support of our CEO Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, as well as the ADPC staff who came to cheer us on”, said one of the ADPC football players.
