Abu Dhabi Ports welcomes delegation from Rotterdam
Capt.Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO Abu Dhabi Ports welcomed a delegation from Rotterdam Port in the Netherlands on Monday 30 March.
The group which included the Mayor of Rotterdam, Mr Ahmed Aboutaleb and representatives from the Netherlands Embassy visited the Abu Dhabi Ports visitor center to learn about the trade and industrial zone and then visited Khalifa Port to see the container terminal, the RORO hub and the general and bulk cargo facilities.
Welcomed by senior officials from Abu Dhabi Ports and Abu Dhabi Terminals, the group discussed the two ports and their respective businesses.
Rotterdam Port is the largest port in Europe, and until 2002 when it was overtaken by Singapore and Shanghai, it was the busiest port in the world. In 2013, it was ranked 11th in the world with an annual output of 11, 621,249 TEU (containers). The Port has been operational for many centuries, and today covers more than 40 kilometers, five distinct port areas and three distribution parks.
