The ACCA Approved Employer programme complements ACCA’s global Continuous Professional Development (CPD) scheme. Under the scheme, workplace learning, e-learning via the internet or other multimedia, writing and presenting business articles and attendance at courses and seminars are all recognised as CPD activities, which is the process by which accountants keep their skills and knowledge continuously updated, after qualifying.
Tony Douglas, Chief Executive Officer of Abu Dhabi Ports Company, said:
“I am delighted we have been recognized by a major professional association. Modern businesses need to invest in their people who are the single most important asset any company can have. Our aim is to ensure that employees are equipped to help the company deliver its responsibilities for the benefit of Abu Dhabi, the nation and ourselves.
Developing our training programmes enhances the development of careers and performance and ensures skills are maintained and updated to help us in our efforts to realize our key role in the Vision 2030 plan of the emirate.”
Deepak Chainani, ACCA Country Manager of UAE & Qatar, said:
“Increasingly, the provision of comprehensive training and development is seen as an important factor by employees when considering which employer to choose. ACCA’s approved employer programme provides a benchmark of good practice to employers around the world and gives Abu Dhabi Ports Company public recognition for the quality of support and training they invest in their employees.”
As part of the programme, employers whose training schemes meet ACCA’s rigorous criteria can become ACCA Approved Employers under the professional development stream, and are rewarded with a broad range of tools to help implement their staff development programme.
