Abu Dhabi Ports celebrates 46th UAE National Day celebrations with 4,000 lucky cruise terminal passengers
In celebration of the UAE’s 46th National Day, Abu Dhabi Ports, the master developer, operator and manager of commercial and community ports within the emirate of Abu Dhabi, as well as Fujairah Terminals and the Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD), hosted festivities at the Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminals in Mina Zayed.
The full-day celebratory event kicked off with a procession from at Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminals main gate and was joined by Abu Dhabi Ports employees and guests. The opening was marked by a ceremonial band performance of the national anthem and was followed by a cultural performances and activities including dances by school students.
Coinciding with the celebrations, cruise ships ‘Aida Stella’ and ‘Norwegian Star’ arrived at the terminal, with 4,000 lucky passengers disembarking to get an authentic taste of Emirati national food and drinks and to experience, first hand, real Emirati culture and welcome.
In celebration of this national occasion, Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi greeted His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the other Emirates, and the people of the UAE.
During his welcome speech, Captain Al Shamisi said: “The United Arab Emirate’s National day holds a treasured place in the hearts of the people of the UAE, as it represents 46 years of unity, stability and security, established under the leadership of our late father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (may God have mercy upon him). It is a celebration that brings together all who live in this diverse and multi-cultured nation, whatever their nationality. At Abu Dhabi Ports we are keen to host celebrations on a yearly basis to share festivities and illustrate rich and authentic Arabian culture, steeped in tradition, past down from father to son over centuries of life in this region. These values and principles have been instilled in us by our wise leadership and we are lucky enough today to be sharing them with 4,000 tourists to our great nation and to the emirate of Abu Dhabi. “
