Kuwait Ministry of Public Works visits Khalifa Port

A senior delegation of officials from the Kuwait Ministry of Public Works visited Khalifa Port and Kizad on Wednesday, 12 February. KIZAD partners with Tadweer for a clean-up campaign at KIZAD

Khalifa Industrial Zone of Abu Dhabi (KIZAD), in cooperation with the Center of Waste Management – Abu Dhabi (Tadweer), launched a clean-up campaign for employees across the industrial zone. The campaign saw participation from over 100 people from Abu Dhabi Ports and from 12 companies’ set-up at KIZAD, who joined together to remove waste from the area, which was then collected for sorting and recycling The campaign aims to promote environmental preservation and encourage residents to be more socially responsible.

Progress toward completion of Khalifa Port Phase 1 at Taweelah has come a step closer with a topping out ceremony of the Terminal Operations building. As one of the major buildings on the new port island and the tallest at over 33 metres it provides 5,200 sq m of floor space for port operations and administration. The latest official figures show that Phase One of ADPC’s flagship Khalifa Port is 1% from completion.The Port, whose high-tech infrastructure and new semi-automated Container Terminal open on September 1st, is 99% complete.Its capacity is 2.5 million TEU containers per year.Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad), adjacent to the Port, is 93.6% completed. Palletco to invest AED 90.7 million in Kizad

Abu Dhabi, UAE: Officials from Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC), and Palletco, a leading manufacturer and supplier of plastic packaging products, have signed a 50 year Musataha Agreement. Khalifa Port approaches 100% completion

The latest official figures for July, 2012, shows that ADPC’s flagship Khalifa Port is less than 2% from completion. The Port, whose new semi-automated container terminal opens on September 1st, is 98.48% complete. Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad), adjacent to the Port, is 90.87% complete. The industrial zone will grow into one of the largest ones in the world. Overall, the adjusted completion figure for the Taweelah megaproject (both Khalifa Port and Kizad combined) is 96.63% complete.

ADPC hosts Higher College of Technology

Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) has hosted a delegation of technology students and shown them around Abu Dhabi’s mega project – the Khalifa Port and Kizad industrial zone. Colleagues at Abu Dhabi Ports Company have joined in the celebrations marking the foundation of the United Arab Emirates forty years ago. Staff gathered in front of the company’s headquarters in the city to join in a range of cultural Emirati activities. ADPC port traffic increase

ADPC saw its port traffic rise 16 per cent in vessel movements from 19,434 between January and September 2011 to 22,477 in the same period this year. The largest increase was for roll-on-roll-off (RORO) traffic, vehicles driven on and off ships either as trucks carrying goods or vehicles being imported for sale within the UAE.  Traffic in this area increased by 41 percent over the last year. Abu Dhabi’s economic growth boosts import/export volumes    General cargo moving through Abu Dhabi’s commercial Ports has increased by 37% this year. ADPC and ADT celebrate as container terminal sets records with container throughput   Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) and Abu Dhabi Terminals (ADT) have recently celebrated a record number of containers handled through Khalifa Port in its first year of operation.
