ADPC reaches 35% Emiratisation target
In line with the UAE government’s recently announced “Abshir” Initiative – to drive and encourage the placement, training and ongoing professional development of Emiratis in the nation’s workforce – Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) has today announced that it reached its year-end target, for 2012, with UAE nationals now accounting for 35 per cent of its employees.
A total of 61 Emiratis were recruited by ADPC, in 2012, many of whom were entry-level employees or “developees”, the rest adding to the organisation’s middle to senior management positions.
Talal Mohamed Eid, Emiratisation Manager, ADPC, announcing the results at ADPC’s 2012 Round Up ‘Town Hall’ meeting, said:
“At ADPC, we take great pride in delivering on the targets set to us, and we are encouraged, once again, by the fact that we have attained the 35 per cent target we set, for 2012.”
“Many of last year’s new recruits are young, talented Emiratis; some taking their first step into a professional workplace environment. We have no doubt that the experience and training they gain at ADPC will ultimately be of mutual benefit to both employee and the organisation as a whole.”
ADPC’s stated target for 2013 is to further increase the percentage of UAE nationals in the company to 40 per cent, with 44 positions specifically earmarked for the “Developee Programme”. The company has also indicated that, in line with its continued growth, there will also be opportunities for, and recruitment of, experienced Emiratis, in management-level positions.
